Psalm 91:1 – The Daily Word

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

Psalm 91:1

How does one dwell in the secret place of the most high? And what is it?

Well, firstly verse 2 of the Psalm shows us that the secret place is not a “what” or a “where”, it’s a “who”

Psalm 91:2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

What does it mean to “dwell” and what is ‘the secret place’?

To dwell in the secret place is to dwell in God himself.

Lord, thou hast been our dwelling place in all generations.

Psalm 90:1

Why then does God say the secret place in reference to himself? Cause he had not yet fully reveal himself under the old covenant. This is why those who dwelt in the secret place, abided under his shadow.

All who trusted God and walked in his truth in the old covenant walked in the “shadow” of his Truth. The body/image that cast the shadow is Jesus.

Hebrews 10:1 For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Colossians 2:17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.

Do we dwell in the secret place today?

Today, we don’t dwell in the secret place, because the secret has been revealed… Jesus. We dwell in him:

John 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.

We don’t abide under the shadow, we abide in the body (Z 1 Cor 12:27 & Rom 12:5).. the body of Christ. Selah!!
